[Korean Studies Monograph] Current Status and Future Directions of Global Korean Studies - Politi...
Recognizing the need to provide a more systematic and structured understanding of Korea to foreigners and overseas Koreans who have developed an interest in Korea thanks to the Korean Wave, the K-Academic Diffusion Research Center at the Center for International Studies, Inha University, has been conducting the 'Fostering a New Wave of K-Academics Program' since July 2021 in order to promote the development and dissemination of Korean Studies in the field of social sciences. This book is all about the culmination of three years of research and activities.
Divided into three parts, the first part of the book outlines the development process of Korean Studies and suggests the directions for global Korean Studies. Next it discusses the development and content of Korean Studies as a regional study, followed by an examination of Korean Studies within the discipline of political science. The second part reviews the trends of Korean Studies in Japan, Europe, and the Anglo-American world, where Korean Studies initially began.
The third part aims to examine the current status and development process of Korean Studies in relatively emerging regions such as Asia, Oceania, and Eurasia, and presents new areas of Korean Studies through the analysis of Korean language education for Koryoin, ethnic Koreans who migrated to Korea from the Eurasian region. Additionally, the appendix statistically presents the current status of Korean Studies in the field of social sciences worldwide.
As a result of such research efforts, "Current Status and Future Directions of Global Korean Studies: Politics of Identity and Public Diplomacy in Korean Studies " was selected as a recommended book in the academic category of the "2024 Sejong Books," announced by the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea on December 16.
