Director Jean-Young Lee participated ‘Public Forum on the Formulation of the Basic Plan for Overseas Compatriot Policy’

On December 8th, Director Jean-Young Lee participated as the senior person present in Session 2 of ‘Public Forum on the Formulation of the Basic Plan for Overseas Compatriot Policy’.

 

This seminar was organized to gather the voices of domestic and overseas Korean communities as well as the opinions of experts from various fields. The aim of the seminar was to incorporate those perspectives into the comprehensive government's medium to long-term policy for overseas Koreans, known as the 'First Basic Plan for Overseas Koreans Policy (2024-2028).‘

 

 

The discussion was divided into three sessions: 'Domestic and Overseas Policies for Overseas Koreans and Identity Cultivation,' 'Enhancement of the Status of Overseas Koreans in Residency Countries,' and 'Insights from Domestic and Overseas Experts and Local Opinions.‘

 

The second session, titled 'Enhancement of the Status of Overseas Koreans in Residency Countries,' was led by Director Jean-Young Lee(Inha CIS). Professor Sengwoo Lee(Cheonnam National University Law School), Professor Chulwoo Lee(Yonsei University Law School), and Director Jaeseok Kwak(Institute for Overseas Korean Policy Research) participated as discussants.
