On October 27th, the Inha CIS successfully held a joint International Conference with the Association for the Studies of Koreans Abroad with the topic of ‘The Opening of the Overseas Koreans Agency and the Direction of Policies Regarding Overseas Compatriots.’
The international conference, co-hosted by the Association for the Studies of Koreans Abroad, was held both online and offline. The conference, sponsored by the Overseas Koreans and the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy, consisted of seven sessions and a comprehensive discussion.
The seven sessions covered topics such as ▲the return of ethnic Koreans and multicultural societies ▲ Repatriation migration and overseas Koreans ▲ Overseas Koreans’ affairs and their policies ▲ The culture of overseas Koreans in the digital era ▲ Policy directions for the next generation of overseas Koreans ▲ Activities of overseas Korean businesses and policies ▲ Global Chinese diaspora communities.
The conference brought together various experts in the field of overseas Koreans, who participated in presentations and discussions. This event was organized to share and discuss various issues related to overseas Koreans, following the opening of the Overseas Koreans Agency in Songdo, Incheon, in June, 2023.
The key speakers at the conference included Director Jean-Young Lee(Inha CIS), Editor-in-chief Yongphil Kim(Dongpo News), Lawyer Youngkwan Cho(Duksoo Law Firm), and Professor Kangcheol Lee(Hokuriku University).
