[Inha CIS] Eurasia and Korean Studies

On April 23, the Inha Center for International Studies (Inha CIS), in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences the Republic of Uzbekistan and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, jointly hosted an international academic conference titled "Eurasia and Korean Studies" in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
 
 
The opening ceremony was attended by Abdukhalimov Bakhrom, Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Rikhsieva Gulchekhra, Rector of Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. Jean-Young Lee, Director of the Inha CIS, and Professor Seokwoo Lee (Inha University) chaired the sessions.
 
 
This international academic conference, sponsored by the Academy of Korean Studies, was held to summarize the first phase of ‘Fostering a New Wave of K-Academics Program’ academically. Experts in Korean Studies from seven countries attended the conference, including Korea, Bulgaria, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and China. They presented topics such as the current state and challenges of Korean Studies in their respective countries, evaluations of video lectures on Korean politics and diplomacy produced by the Inha K-Academic Diffusion Research Center, and tasks for the globalization of Korean political science and diplomacy. Approximately 170 people attended the event, including students from the Department of Korean Studies at Ajou University Tashkent Campus (AUT) and students from Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
 
The first session was themed "Status and Prospects of Korean Studies Exchange Between Korea and Eurasian Countries," the second session focused on "Evaluation and Tasks of Online Courses at ‘K-Academic Diffusion Research Center’ of Inha University," and the third session was on "Development Tasks for Korean Studies Proposed by Major Eurasian Universities: Focusing on ‘Korean Political Sciences and International Relations’." Each session included topic presentations and discussions.
 
 
The presentations were given by Jean-Young Lee, Director of the Inha CIS (Inha University), Professor Sungjin Kim (Duksung Women's University), Professor Dongki Sung (Inha University), Professor Youngduk Jang (Inha University), Professor Soyoung Kim (Sofia University), Professor Eunhyun Moon (Baku State University), Professor Eunkyung Jeong (Istanbul University), Professor German Kim (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University), and Professor Usmanova Shoira (Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies). Discussion participants included Research Fellow Kyung-Min Park (Inha University) and Research Fellow Seung-Jae Lee (Inha University).
 
 
The event was scheduled to be covered by local media outlets, including O’zbekiston 24.
