Inha University's Center for International Studies & Korean Studies held an international academic conference together on the theme of "The Issues and Current Status of Global Korean Studies" at Inha University's 60th anniversary hall from February 26th to 28th. A number of various researchers from home and abroad participated in this conference in order to share the latest research trends in Korean studies and conduct in-depth academic discussions.
♦ Opening Ceremony and Part 1 Joint Session
The event began with the opening ceremony on the 26th, the first day, after the first joint session was held under the theme of "Interdisciplinary Approach to Korean Diaspora Research." In this session, various presenters at home and abroad shared their in-depth research outcomes and achievements by dealing with the various cases of the Korean diaspora.
♦ Part 2 Inha Center for International Studies(ICIS) - Korean Studies by Region
On the 27th, the second day, there were sessions designed to examine the flow of Korean studies research being conducted in various regions such as China, the Philippines, and Japan. This served as an opportunity to promote academic exchange by showing the research trends and development directions of Korean studies in each country.
♦ Part 3 Inha Center for Korean Studies(ICKS) - Topography of Modern Overseas Korean Studies and Collective Biography of Korean Scholars
The third session discussed how Korean studies are being studied in Russia, Europe, and China and the development of Korean studies in each region.
♦ Round table and closing ceremony
The following round table was hosted by Lee Jean Young, director of ICIS, and Woo Kyung Seop, deputy director of ICKS, and both presenters and debaters had a meaningful time to discuss new directions for Korean studies research and explore future cooperation. On the 28th, the last day, the academic conference ended with a grand finale in Incheon Port through a walking tour.
